Local Place Plans provide communities with the ability to shape the appearance, form and function of the places in which they live. These plans can raise awareness and bring attention to issues that are experienced in a community and explore what actions can be taken to improve them.

They have a statutory role in shaping the planning process as an important input to the preparation of Local Development Plans. They can also help the National Park Authority, Council and Community Planning Partners and funding organisations to better understand local issues and where to target investment and services.

The process of preparing a Local Place Plan provides an opportunity for communities to come together, and to engage with other organisations that can help to shape their future. The process can also inspire community action and provide a framework for actions to be delivered by the community itself.

The plan is currently under construction and has been developed through multiple community engagements, and includes input from the 2015 Community Action Plan and the 2023 Resident’s Survey. Most recently community feedback was captured at the Local Place Plan drop-in sessions in November 2024 and at later Stakeholder engagements. The Local Place Plan also includes the aims/opportunities identified by the local organisations, clubs and businesses who took part in the development of this Local Place Plan. The file below represents the raw output received from residents, clubs and businesses who came to the drop in sessions.

Raw Output from Ardentinny residents/Clubs/Businesses Nov 2024 Drop in Sessions

After the drop in sessions were held a Steering Group representing residents, Community Council, Community Trust, Clubs and Businesses was set up to pull the document together, a first draft is expected in December 2025.
